February 2014 Show Review
By Joyce Jackson

The second show of 2014 had a good crowd, good food and even better Bluegrass. We started off by singing Happy Birthday to Mr. Harrison-one of Spring Creek Bluegrass Clubs most dedicated fans.  He was celebrating his 99th birthday.

The Sowell Family
The first group to play was “The Sowell Family.”  Members are John Mark-mandolin/fiddle, Joshua-guitar, Abigail-mandolin/fiddle, Jacob-banjo,  Naomi-bass, Cindy-mandolin and vocals and Justus-ukulele. It’s good to have them back at Belville.  They started off the February show with an instrumental to show off their picking ability.  They then did  Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Angel Band, Jerusalem Ridge, The Ballad of Jed Clampett, This World Is Not My Home, Oh My Savior featuring Justus, That’s Important To Me dedicated to Glenn Sowell, Musical Twister, The Hee Haw Theme, Give Me Jesus,  Sweet Sweet Spirit, Let Your Light So Shine, Fishers of Men and Orange Blossom Special. Good Show!
Lonestar Bluegrass Band

The second group to play was “The Lonestar Bluegrass Band”.  Members are: Chris Hirsh-banjo, George Hanson-bass, Matt Morris-mandolin, and Chuck Gunn-guitar.  They started us off fast and furious with Goin’ Honkey Tonkin, Paradise, Ole Slew Foot, In The Jailhouse Now, Nellie Kane, and Gentle On My Mind. Chris invited Mr. John Harrison on stage and sang Happy Birthday to him again. Then, they started up again with Follow The Leader for Clinton who was AWOL, then on to Detour, The Old Homeplace and Gimme Three Steps. Fast and furious just like they started!   Good Show!

The Sowell Family

“The Saltgrass Band was schedule to come on next, but had to cancel so “The Sowell Family” agreed to come back on stage and do another set.  They did : I Saw The Light, Grandfather’s Clock, Cindy told a joke about a Missippi Minister then the boys did Twelve Street Rag with one banjo.  Cindy did Crazy by request, A Beatutiful Life, Mighty Too Save, Amazing Grace and Dueling Banjos. Good Job!
